Please be aware of a tactic by the enemy to get Christian’s to cave on their beliefs and sign a letter of, ‘peace’ between Christians and Muslims. Choosing not to sign this letter does not, in any way, mean you support violence against Muslims, nor does it mean you wish them ill. All it means it that you know there is only one God and He is not muhammed. Here are some links to read to become more informed. Beware of pastors pressuring people to embrace Islam in the name of peace. Jesus did not come to bring peace, He came brining a sword, and though the peace makers are blessed, that does not mean giving up your beliefs for the preservation of others. Giving up your belief in god and Christ only leads to one place, and one place only, an eternity in hell. Now, do you really want to spend and eternity in hell just so you don’t hurt someone’s feelings by disagreeing with them? I didn’t think so.

I WILL NOT SIGN THE LETTER

It is time to get a backbone, people.

Yesterday, parts of our area were burning. The smell of smoke was streaming in through our swamp cooler. Thankfully, it wasn’t too hot yesterday and we were able to shut it off for awhile until the smoke cleared. I turned on the t.v. to try and find out if the source of the fire was nearby, it wasn’t. Thank you, Lord! Strong winds were blowing the smoke towards us. The fire was on the other side of town. While looking for news on the fire, I stopped by the channel that shows the Oprah show. Her guests were psychiatrists who prescribe ‘erotic’ movies (read, porn) to their female clients to help free them from sexual inhibitions. Come, on! So many studies have been done about the destructive effects of pornography on people. It destroys lives. It increases crimes against the innocent, not to mention what it does to those in the industry.  My heart broke when Oprah said she was neither for it, nor against it. This is a perfect example of where we are headed as a people. No one seems to want to stake a stand against anything or for anything. There IS good. There IS evil. Be strong enough to stand up against evil in all its forms.

It’s HOT, HOT, HOT!
Posted by Melissa at 7:00 am in Christian Issues, Inspiration, Stuff

We are having a bit of a heat wave this year. It hit 101 yesterday which is a bit unusual for our city. Last year, we had so much wonderful rain. Not this year.

Here is a picture of what it looks like where Tech Hubby and I spent the 4th of July. It was so very beautiful. I’d love to have a home there some day, maybe. Sometimes the idea of something is better than the reality.

One of the things that makes our trip to the lodge every year so enjoyable is the wonderful people there with whom we get to visit. I get to watch, ‘J’ grow up. Her birthday is two days before mine. This year, I brought my Anne of Green Gables book for her as a gift. She is doing her best to hide herself in a big ball cap and jacket, despite the heat.

Our hosts are delightful as well. You know those kind of people, kind to everyone, generous and loving. Many things are discussed during the few days we visit. Our topics of discussion range from string theory, to ancient ruins to conspiracy theories. We quite enjoy ourselves.

One thing I’ve noticed though that is not enjoyable to hear is the mixing of Christianity with other religions.

Christianity is and always has been different and able to stand on its own without needing to be ‘padded’ with other, false doctrines. Jesus himself said, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ John 14:6

There is no other path to eternal salvation. There is no other doctrine, no other ‘truth’ no other anything that will get you into heaven and enjoying eternity with God than through the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. If you are believing something else, with or in place of the gospel, you are in for a nasty surprise one day. You cannot worship the earth and God. You cannot worship any other deity and God. Only God. It is high time Christians stopped trying to please everyone and focused only on pleasing God. We cannot accommodate every other spiritual belief and still call ourselves Christians. To be a Christian means to be a follower of Christ. That’s it. Christ. Nothing else.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

Refrain

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

Refrain

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

Refrain

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Refrain

I received an email from the church secretary today regarding the fall home groups. Ack! Fall! Meetings and start dates begin next month. NEXT MONTH! and in September.

Here is my challenge to you, join one of my Yahoo! groups. Either the Three Plus One Club

Why? Because people are lonely. People are seeking. Be a mentor. Reach out and make friends and change people’s lives for the better. More ideas and recipes to come on both group sites.

Our government was/is supposed to be created by the people, for the people. That was all blown away when Congress held a secret meeting on March 13th of this year. Please watch the following videos and be educated about how your rights are being stripped away. Americans have enjoyed unpresidented freedoms for the last 300 or so years. If we don’t stand up for our rights, we could end up like China and North Korea.

What is REX-84?

Rex 84, short for Readiness Exercise 1984, was a plan by the United States federal government to test their ability to detain large numbers of American citizens in case of massive civil unrest or national emergency. Exercises similar to Rex 84 happen periodically.[1] Plans for roundups of persons in the United States in times of crisis are constructed during periods of increased political repression such as the Palmer Raids and the McCarthy Era. For example, from 1967 to 1971 the FBI kept a list of persons to be rounded up as subversive, dubbed the “ADEX” list.[2]

According to scholar Diana Reynolds:

The Rex-84 Alpha Explan (Readiness Exercise 1984, Exercise Plan; otherwise known as a continuity of government plan), indicates that FEMA in association with 34 other federal civil departments and agencies conducted a civil readiness exercise during April 5-13, 1984. It was conducted in coordination and simultaneously with a Joint Chiefs exercise, Night Train 84, a worldwide military command post exercise (including Continental U.S. Forces or CONUS) based on multi-emergency scenarios operating both abroad and at home. In the combined exercise, Rex-84 Bravo, FEMA and DOD led the other federal agencies and departments, including the Central Intelligence Agency, the Secret Service, the Treasury, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Veterans Administration through a gaming exercise to test military assistance in civil defense.
The exercise anticipated civil disturbances, major demonstrations and strikes that would affect continuity of government and/or resource mobilization. To fight subversive activities, there was authorization for the military to implement government ordered movements of civilian populations at state and regional levels, the arrest of certain unidentified segments of the population, and the imposition of martial rule. [3]

Existence of a master military contingency plan, “Garden Plot” and a similar earlier exercise, “Lantern Spike” were originally revealed by journalist Ron Ridenhour, who summarized his findings in “Garden Plot and the New Action Army.”[4]

Rex 84 was mentioned during the Iran-Contra Hearings in 1987, and subsequently reported on by the Miami Herald on July 5, 1987. [5]A number of websites and alternative publications that span the political spectrum have hypothesized upon the basic material about Rex 84, and in many cases hyperbolized it into a form of urban legend or conspiracy theory. Rex 84 is sometimes cited as an extension of the fictional King Alfred Plan, a strategy to detain African Americans. Nonetheless, the basic facts about Rex 84 and other contingency planning readiness exercises–and the potential threat they pose to civil liberties if fully implemented in a real operation–are taken seriously by scholars and civil liberties activists.[6]

Here are quotes from some of our founding fathers on the Fourth of July, independence, and thanksgiving. For all of you who beat the drum of separation of church and state (which is NOT in the constitution so stop calling the constitutional separation of church and state!) Please take note of all the references to God Almighty. The One, the only, God of America.

In 1776, John Adams declared, “The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epocha in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.”

The Council has thought meet to appoint and set apart the 29th day of this instant June, as a day of Solemn Thanksgiving and praise to God for such his Goodness and Favour, many Particulars of which mercy might be Instanced, but we doubt not those who are sensible of God’s Afflictions, have been as diligent to espy him returning to us; and that the Lord may behold us as a People offering Praise and thereby glorifying Him; the Council doth commend it to the Respective Ministers, Elders and people of this Jurisdiction; Solemnly and seriously to keep the same Beseeching that being perswaded by the mercies of God we may all, even this whole people offer up our bodies and soulds as a living and acceptable Service unto God by Jesus Christ.”-George Washington.

“We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”
James Madison, 1778 to the General Assembly of the State of Virginia

America was built on the ten commandments, not forced diversity, tolerance and political correctness.- Melissa Bishop

“ The Law given from Sinai [The Ten Commandments] was a civil and municipal as well as a moral and religious code.”
John Quincy Adams. Letters to his son. p. 61

“All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery
and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.”
Noah Webster. History. p. 339

William Bradford
• wrote that they [the Pilgrims] were seeking:
• 1) “a better, and easier place of living”; and that “the children of the group were being drawn away by evil examples into extravagance and dangerous courses [in Holland]“
• 2) “The great hope, and for the propagating and advancing the gospel of the kingdom of Christ in those remote parts of the world”
The Mayflower Compact (authored by William Bradford) 1620 | Signing of the Mayflower painting | Picture of Compact
“Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God, and one of another, covenant and combine our selves together…”

(The children of the group were being drawn away by evil examples into extravagance and dangerous courses…)

This sounds a great deal like what we are going through today. How many times must history repeat itself before we get it right?

John Adams and John Hancock:
We Recognize No Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus! [April 18, 1775]

John Adams:
“ The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity… I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”
• “[July 4th] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.”
–John Adams in a letter written to Abigail on the day the Declaration was approved by Congress

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” –October 11, 1798

“I have examined all religions, as well as my narrow sphere, my straightened means, and my busy life, would allow; and the result is that the Bible is the best Book in the world. It contains more philosophy than all the libraries I have seen.” December 25, 1813 letter to Thomas Jefferson

“Without Religion this World would be Something not fit to be mentioned in polite Company, I mean Hell.” [John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, April 19, 1817] |

Samuel Adams: | Portrait of Sam Adams |

John, John Quincy, and Sam Adams
“ He who made all men hath made the truths necessary to human happiness obvious to all… Our forefathers opened the Bible to all.” [ "American Independence," August 1, 1776. Speech delivered at the State House in Philadelphia]

“ Let divines and philosophers, statesmen and patriots, unite their endeavors to renovate the age by impressing the minds of men with the importance of educating their little boys and girls, inculcating in the minds of youth the fear and love of the Deity… and leading them in the study and practice of the exalted virtues of the Christian system.” [October 4, 1790]

This one especially rings true.

John Quincy Adams:
• “Why is it that, next to the birthday of the Savior of the world, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day [the Fourth of July]?” “Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer’s mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity”?
–1837, at the age of 69, when he delivered a Fourth of July speech at Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Could someone please send KBIQ, Q102.7 some money so that our supposed to be Christian radio station doesn’t have to run anti-Dobson ads to keep the lights on?

Bye, Bye, McDonald’s
Posted by Melissa at 8:26 am in Blogging, Christian Issues, Media, Politics

Every Sunday, on the way to church, Tech Hubby and I stop at the Golden Arches and buy breakfast. How very betrayed I feel that our hard earned money has been spent to support a homosexual chamber of commerce and because of their $20,000 donation to said chamber of commerce, one of McDonald’s executives now sits on the chamber’s board of directors. Guess where I won’t be having breakfast this Sunday. All you mommies out there who take your little ones to McDonald’s for a meal and to play, please think twice about spending your money at a place that takes your money and puts it into an organization which promotes the sin of homosexuality.

The founder of the American Family Association (AFA) says the McDonald’s Corporation’s refusal to be neutral in the cultural war over homosexuality has resulted in their declaration of a boycott against the popular fast-food chain. LINK here to read full story.
