Australia Gets it Very, Very, Wrong-Ho, Ho, Ho!!

I love Australia and its people. I have belonged to online Australian communities and one of the nicest ladies I know visits my blog from time to time and I hers. When I read, however, that Santa’s in Sydney have been instructed not to say, ‘ho, ho, ho’ because the ebonic plague has reached their shores, I just shook my head.

“Santas in Australia’s largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas’s traditional “ho ho ho” greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday. Sydney’s Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say “ha ha ha” instead, the Daily Telegraph reported. One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use “ho ho ho” because it could frighten children and was too close to “ho”, a US slang term for prostitute.” (news.yahoo)

So, sarcastic kudos go to the person who made up this rule while choking down a giant p.c. pill, kudos also to those who came up with this term in the first place, poisoning our language with yet another derogatory, and inflammatory word. As if we didn’t have enough of them already. I know it’s been around for a while but that’s how things are sometimes, easier to introduce than they are to get rid of.
