Dog Shot by Sheriff

I was watching Inside Edition today, and they aired a story about a dog who was shot on its owner’s property by a local sheriff. Although the death of the dog is tragic, I’m more concerned with why the sheriff was on her property in the first place. Get this, he was asking for directions. Directions? The last time I checked, law enforcement vehicles were equipped with these new fangled things called, radios, that allowed people to talk to each other over long distances. That sheriff should not have been on that home owner’s property. No way, no how. Why couldn’t he call dispatch to get directions? Why couldn’t he look it up on his laptop? Don’t city/county vehicles have laptops or gps devices in them? Now, because of the sheriff’s incompetence, a home owner is out her friend, companion and protector, and it’s not the sheriff!
