Thanks for coming, here’s your bill.
There seems to be a new trend in rudeness happening and at first, I thought it was a joke. People who invite other people to their parties then make them pay the bill. Now, there is nothing wrong with telling people ahead of time, if a particular event is dutch. It’s when you don’ tell them upfront what to expect that you are in bad form, not them when they walk out without paying their part of the bill. Remember that episode of Friends where they all went out to dinner at an expensive restaurant? A couple of friends only had water and salad but Ross insisted the bill be split equally among everyone. This is wrong unless everyone ordered the same exact items from the menu. If this happens to you, speak up. Only you can prevent yourself from being taken advantage of and do not worry about hurting the hosts feelings, they are insensitive brutes to begin with for doing such a thing, and a good swift kick in the social keister, should set them straight. If that doesn’t work, remove them from your social network immediately. Perhaps when no one wants to go out with them any more, they’ll finally get the message.
