It’s a Rainy Day…Again!
Posted by Melissa at 7:35 am in Blogging, Writing

All there is to do is sit around, drink tea, and read.

After a looong and very dry summer, with parts of the city, mountains and plains going up in flames, we are finally getting rain. A great deal of rain. So much rain that I feel like I now live in Washington State. Of course, the rain comes right after we had our house washed and primed, ready to stain. We have to wait for the rain to stop first, if it ever does!

If you are stuck inside because of the weather, hot or cold, why not stop by Lulu and pick up a copy of my book to read? It’ll make us both happy!

Pink Saturday and Did You Know?
Posted by Melissa at 6:48 am in Antiques, Art, Blogging, Photography, Stuff

So, a couple of other ladies out there in Blog land are participating in Pink Saturday. I love pink, why am I not doing this? So, I am.

  • Photobucket
  • click the pink doll to go to ‘How Sweet the Sound’ the blog that started Pink Saturday. You’ll find many other great blogs to visit.

Before I post pink pics, I wanted to clarify something. We all know, don’t we, that content on the internet is copyrighted, yes? When I post pictures from Flickr, I never ever, without first getting permission, put a picture on my blog that is copyrighted or doesn’t have the ‘blog this’ button available. I was at Author Suzanne McMinn’s site, Chickens in the Road, and she’s been plagiarized! I had to laugh. Not because she was copied, but because this other person is passing off someone else’s life experiences as her own! Now, I can understand, if you think you don’t write well you might be enamored with someone’s ability to build imagery, but come on! Surely you’ve lived enough life to where you don’t need to steal someone else’s? Now, I’ve gone to blogs and have seen someone write about something I thought would make a great topic, but I write from my perspective and do not use any of their words. This person had gone to Suzanne’s blog and copied text, verbatim, right from her posts. Writing IS hard. Don’t start a blog unless you have, or can find, something to say, and not take it from someone else’s life.

That said, sigh, here is a photo for Pink Saturday.

Hand painted pin and earrings, the type with screw backs. I can’t imagine painting something that small.
