One of the things I do first thing in the morning, is read, Yahoo! News. One of the video stories today was of an interview with the room mate of the man responsible for the Virginia Tech shootings. This roommate made a very good point about reaching out to people who are lonely and isolated. Don’t give up on the first try. His theory is that if his roommate had made some connections, some friends, then maybe he would have had someone to talk to, to turn to, instead of coming up with his own skewed rationales which we all know where those lead.
Here is my challenge to you. Reach out today to someone. Open up your address book and send out a note, maybe five notes, to those people in your life who are beginning to slip away. It doesn’t have to be fancy. I find good, unused stationary and notes at the local thrift store, garage sales, estate sales and yes, I even splurge and buy them fresh off the shelf. Whatever your style or flair, send a note today to someone you know or would like to get to know better.
