So far as an iron on t-shirt transfer (or apron, tote, etc.) He is so cute I just couldn’t resist. He is at my Etsy site for now. I will be doing note books and things for my cafepress site.

Of course, he will not have the giant copyright across his forehead.

I’ve had such an ordeal with my site lately, all in the name of trying to improve it and to be able to have advertising to help offset some of the costs. With all the work that I have put into this page the last few days, I should have thousands racked up in ad revenue if the energy expended were to be matched monetarily. Wouldn’t THAT be nice? So, I am going to have to repost my previous post on this topic that was unavoidably erased in order to recover other lost bits of my blog which were much more popular than i had thought (thank you!) it feels good to know people are reading and enjoying your efforts. Keep visiting, I love it!

We had home group last night. Same bat channel, same bat time. One of the guys was commenting on how frustrated he feels when his wife tells him he has done something wrong, especially when he was trying to do it for her. Then it was revealed that he did it how he thought it should be done and not how she wanted it done.
So, men…yes, if you specifically do something for your wife, how you want it done, and not how she would like it to be done, it doesn’t count and no, you will not earn brownie points.

Today, we’re having a nice cuppa and some truth.
The Great Global Warming Swindle
and this is what happens when you allow your food to be grown outside your country. I think that instead of more strip malls, we need more farms and ranches. FOOD SHORTAGES
This is my recipe, though I am sure there are other’s out there very similar to this one. I did not take a photograph (maybe we should call them digigraphs?) . I was going to do my chocolate zucchini scones, but those are especially ugly in digigraphs and do not look like scones at all, but more like road apples!

On a side note, I had a, ‘name that photo’ contest yesterday. You can still see the post. The contest is over, but I just wanted to let you know about it because you never know when there will be another. Don’t forget to visit!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Contest ends tonight at 9 p.m. there must be at least 10 unique entries, continental U.S. people only. Winner will receive a selection of tea!
I’m sure to get spam now with that title. This is one of my favorite infuser pots. I purchased it at a dollar Asian store which is quite ironic considering one of my dreams is that the U.S. would embargo the pants off of China. We have had an embargo with Cuba for forever LINK, why not China? However, until the embargo happens, why not pick up one of these infuser tea pots?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The infuser fits nicely into the lid. I have Monk’s Blend in there today. When the tea is finished brewing, I remove the entire lid unit, dump the infuser and spent leaves into a dish then replace the inner lid and the outer lid that goes on top. It brews enough tea for 4-5 6 oz cups or, enough for my travel mug with some left over.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember me?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have been using my teacups and travel mug more often since getting my infuser teapot where before, I just used a mug, of course, you could always decant the whole thing into a pretty teapot and serve.
One of the things I do first thing in the morning, is read, Yahoo! News. One of the video stories today was of an interview with the room mate of the man responsible for the Virginia Tech shootings. This roommate made a very good point about reaching out to people who are lonely and isolated. Don’t give up on the first try. His theory is that if his roommate had made some connections, some friends, then maybe he would have had someone to talk to, to turn to, instead of coming up with his own skewed rationales which we all know where those lead.
Here is my challenge to you. Reach out today to someone. Open up your address book and send out a note, maybe five notes, to those people in your life who are beginning to slip away. It doesn’t have to be fancy. I find good, unused stationary and notes at the local thrift store, garage sales, estate sales and yes, I even splurge and buy them fresh off the shelf. Whatever your style or flair, send a note today to someone you know or would like to get to know better.
I remember going to ladies’ homes with my mother when I was a child. These ladies seemed old to my child’s eyes. Most of them had a blue, Royal Dansk, tin filled with shortbread cookies/biscuits. Years later when I worked at a local drug store, from 18-20, whenever these cookies were on sale, ladies would come into the store in droves to buy them up. They no longer seem so old fashioned and silly but have taken on a feel of charming and homey.
Do you keep a biscuit tin/barrel or cookie jar on hand? I have a Mamie cookie jar that embarrasses my husband. It was painted by a friend of my mother’s years ago. It is in those 70’s orange colors but I love it, maybe because it was always full and ready to offer hospitality and comfort in an instant.
Well, I do not own any cute tea dresses, yet. So I will include a couple of links to sites that have cute tea dresses. In the mean time, let me tell you about my weekend. Went and watched my nephew play quarterback for the first time on Saturday. He did very well and was so excited and cute (and sweaty!) after the game.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then, mom and dad treated me to lunch at a local chain Italian restaurant. Then, I went home and made a batch of cookies and watched, Enchanted. The cookies I make are almost a meal in and of themselves. They have chocolate, peanut butter, rolled oats and wheatgerm in them, among other ingredients. They are nice and heavy. Very substantial. About half way through the movie, Tech Hubby comes into the bedroom and says, ‘let’s go have sushi!’ so I went. It was very good except for one thing, some of the rolls they made up ahead of time and stored in the fridge to cut down on prep time because they get so busy, well, they weren’t very good. The rice was of course cold and we thought, ‘why stay here and eat them, they are cold already’, so we packed up what was left and took it home.
On Sunday, we went to church. Sermon was good, it was about being content. One of the ladies came up to me and wants to get together and talk about teaching kids etiquette. Woohoo! Thank you, Lord for passing on Your wisdom on the matter to her. When I speak to her I will talk to her about including boys as they need to know this stuff too, it’s not just for girls. BTW, the nephew just went through cotillion and LOVED it!
Here are the dress links.
I have never been comfortable with the idea of Obama as president. I am a, ‘verify then trust’ kind of person which means I will weigh your character before trusting you and embracing you as a friend. I have heard interviews of Obama on many occasions and always, afterward I felt uncomfortable, and it seemed as if he were talking through a screen, like we were getting in to see the real man. He seems to me, very guarded and closed down. Well, he slipped the other day, big time. In this article (which itself contains racist remarks within made up scenarios about white politicians) Obama is quoted as saying he, ‘told wealthy San Franciscans that small-town Pennsylvanians and Midwesterners “cling to guns or religion” because they are “bitter” about their economic status.’ this was at a fund raiser.
So, if this is Obama’s opinion about we ho own guns and go to church, will he then take away our guns and keep us out of our places of worship? Why is he openly attacking these two things and mid westerners in general? This is racist. This is scary.
Please, take another look and tell your friends about Ron Paul. He is the only hope for America.
So, my meeting with the lady from church went very well today. It was nice getting to know her a bit more. I served up my yummy chicken salad on croissants with a side of red seedless grapes, apricot tea and scones with pink mock Devonshire cream and plum jam. She loved all the flavors together and gave many compliments. Thanks!
She also purchased two bags of scone mix. I would have given them to her or only charged her half, but she insisted, quoting from the bible, ‘a worker is worth his wages’ or her wages in my case.
Is it finally happening? Are rays of sun breaking around the dark clouds? Thank you, Lord!
I have invited a lady from church over today for lunch to discuss the cream tea we are having in May. I am excited, but nervous. I wonder if I will always be nervous right before people come over (new people) or if I will reach a level of comfort to where it will not make me nervous anymore to have new people over?
Also, I called a local gift shop and spoke to the owner about having her sell my scone mixes in her shop. She sounded receptive tot he idea but is going out of town for awhile. I’m to call her again when she gets back to schedule a time for us to get together for a tasting and to discuss things. Please keep me in your prayers about this.
Certain parts of the nation seem to be unable to break free from winter’s grip and enter into spring. Well, we entered into classic Rocky Mountain spring time weather yesterday with a hail storm…for over 4 hours! Usually, the hail comes, strips every leaf from every tree and makes a nice tossed salad out of any out door flowering anything and then travels on to find something new to destroy. This all usually takes place in a matter of minutes. Not yesterday. It all started normal, a few bits of icy drops quickly turned into many. It got quit loud. Then, rain added to the mix and lightened things up a bit. then there was rain and heavy hail throughout the day. It came straight down, drenching everything. The ground is still covered in ice rain today. They even had to have snow plows come out and plow our area.
One couple made it to home group but the other was sick with the flu and didn’t make it. Please keep this couple, we’ll call them Couple A, in your prayers as the wife is still under spiritual attack from her trip to Spain.
The other day, right there in our yard, were three, count them, three robins hopping about. I didn’t manage to get any photos but it is proof, that despite the repeated snow/rain and thunder we keep having, that springs really is coming!
When I worked at the tea shop a few years ago, I was clueless on many aspects of tea. Time, not only heals but it also allows us opportunities to change things, to learn and grow, explore and discover, but only if we are willing. I thought, at the time, that there was no difference between the shapes of tea pots, coffee pots and hot chocolate pots other than to distinguish between them on a buffet table. While the shapes may very well aid in pouring the correct beverage into your cup, there is a difference. I thought I would give a little tutorial because while visiting other ladies’ blogs during Lah-Tea-Dah’s blog-a-thon, I saw other’s making the same mistake as I, and calling their coffee pots, tea pots.
Tea pots are more short and stout with rounder bodies. This allows the tea leaves to expand as it was and still is common for people to place the tea leaves directly into the tea pot to brew.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a hot chocolate pot. Original chocolate pots were tall and narrow, had handles sticking straight out at the sides, and an opening in the top of the pot where the stirrer went, called a molinillo. You would roll it between the palms of your hands. The style below is still made today but you usually find it in boring white cafe’ type china. What is it with the current trend for plain white china? But, I digress.

I had had a hope ‘chest’ for years. I started collecting things for it when I was in my senior year of high school. It was more of a collection of things to use when I loved out on my own, though, than things to be saved for my marriage. Good thing too because I didn’t get married until I was 37! lol When the big announcement was made or even while my husband and I were still dating, my mother made several things which I use, but cherish. Some embroidered pillow cases and ea towels, two of the tea towels I think someone helped themselves to as I can no longer find them. They may have walked off at a pot luck. This breaks my heart, not because of course of a monetary value, but because my mother now has arthritis in her fingers and can not make new ones to replace those which have been taken. I do still have one of the tea towels she made. It has a pretty blue teapot decoration and, yes, it does get used. I figure I may as well use my cute things as they probably would be sold at an estate sale when I die and someone else would use them for me later if I don’t use them now. Here it is.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here, not at all tea related, is a picture of some, ‘girls’ sunning themselves in a neighbor’s yard. I think it’s funny that two of them hopped the fence to lay in the grass (one was just out of camera range behind the building which is why you can’t see her).

Tech Hubby and I went looking at motor homes yesterday. There were some fancy ones, let-me-tell-you! One had a wine safe. Is that what you call them? Complete with holes for the glasses and bottles. We’re not wine people so that didn’t matter to use. Another had a dry, ‘bar’ I guess you would call it which I would quickly turn into a tea station. It had a separate mini ice fridge, in addition to the regular freezer space above the refrigerator. Tech Hubby drinks much soda and coffee so the extra space for ice would be great and the counter and cupboard space could store, tea for me and coffee for him, as well as house our brewing appliances. That really is the one I’d like. It is painted white inside and lined with mirrors, even on the ceiling, which make it look bigger. It has creamed colored leather chairs and the upholstery is in a nice pattern with green and mauve, burgundy accents. There is brass on the fixtures and the counter tops are granite. Another one I liked had blond wood and a lounging area in the bed room which was nice. Hubby is leaning toward the type you pull with a truck instead of a motor home. They are ok but the ones we looked at didn’t have the glam of the motor homes. There are other rv dealers in town so we still have much looking to do.
Now for some bad news. Wordpress, which is what I use for my blog, had us do an update, and now I can’t load photos. I hope you’ll still visit me as I work this issue out. I hope to have this fixed soon!
I’d miss you all terribly if you didn’t visit.

You see them in antique shops and thrift stores, photographs no one wants, or can’t remember, who is inside the frame, captured in a moment in time. A school teacher, alone on the prairie who scraped together enough from her meager salary to afford a picture of herself to be taken by the traveling photographer, to be given to the children she has taught. She is being transferred to another school and will most likely never pass this way again. All the lives she has encountered and friendships she has made will be left behind as she climbs into the stage coach to travel further west. A small reticule in hand and a trunk on the roof of the carriage, is all she has in the world. She chose a life of independence which usually lead to solitude for unmarried women in those days. Her companions? -the few other single women about the community and the occasional older female student interested in a life of teaching as a way to either escape a life of marriage to an unwanted choice made by her parents, or because of a scarcity of eligible men in her town. Some, headed west because of the promise of adventure, wealth and opportunity unavailable in the east. You see, under the stays, lace and parasols of some, beat the heart of an adventurer. The heart of a wild rose longing to bloom in places unknown. Now, her picture languishes on the dusty shelves of antique stores, her story untold. There may be a journal somewhere, who else was there to hear her tale? Where ever it is, it is not with the picture, so the face and the words remain unpaired. The journal stirring up the imagination of the reader trying to picture the type of woman to embark on such an adventure, and the picture is being gazed upon by someone working up their imagination, creating a story to go with the face.

Winter is very determined this year to hang on until the end. I would not be surprised if it snowed in July this year. It’s happened before, you know.
Some one was surfing the net looking for attire etiquette for a garden tea party where gloves and hats will be worn. If you are going some place where hats and gloves will be worn, whether it is inside or out, wear a dress or skirt. If you are concerned with the heels of your shoes sinking into the ground, wear flat or low, wide heeled shoes.
Last but certainly not least, I used the word, whimsical, today. I was happy that I had the chance to use such a whimsical word as whimsical. That just doesn’t happen too often but perhaps it should. I like to imagine a world where such words as, whimsical, enchanting and delightful are used more than, recession, Jihad, and alternative lifestyle. How about you? What words would you like to see make a come back? Oh, here is a link to the site that delighted me enough to use the word whimsical. LINK
Here are those photos of the leaning towers of teaza I promised you earlier in the week.

See the car and trailer s&p shaker? Tech hubby bought them for me on our third date to Keystone. I got car sick on the way back (winding mountain roads are no fun!) and we had to stop at a cafe’ so I could recover a bit. I was so concerned I might vomit all over him and his car! I didn’t, but it was a close call.
See the turtle s&p shakers? Mom brought those back for me one year from TX.

The power went out yesterday for about 3 hours in the middle of the day. As the time for starting dinner grew near, I started to panic. I sat down to pray that the lights would come back on in time to cook. The minute I said, ‘amen’, the lights came back on. Woohoo!
Dinner was a success even though most of the people didn’t like what I made, salmon, each for different, personal reasons, not because I’m a bad cook. One friend had eaten salmon and became very ill and as a result, cannot even put one bite in her mouth. I completely understand this as I once became violently ill at a restaurant because of their salad bar. It has been 25 years and I still refuse to step foot into that restaurant. I know it’s a mental reaction to a physical occurrence, but still. The other person has childhood drama related to salmon. As a child he was served up salmon and spaghetti on the same plate (Please, ladies, learn how to cook! This guy is in his late 40’s and is still traumatized by his mother’s cooking!) and he and his siblings had to sit at the table until every bite was gone. I remember those days myself and sitting at the table for what seemed like forever as the situation quickly deteriorated into a battle of wills. I offered to make them both something else, but she declined saying she was still full from lunch and could make due with the side dishes; home made mushroom onion soup, steamed broccoli, wild rice, and he said he would do his best to choke it down. Well, he ended up liking the salmon as it wasn’t the canned stuff he remembered from his childhood. I had made blackened salmon and one piece with a dill seasoning mix sprinkled liberally on top. Everyone who tried it liked it but it is the last time I cook salmon for home group. (They even had seconds!) I love having iced tea with dinner and now that it is warming up, it is served with every home group dinner.
One person was absent from home group. Kudos to her husband for coming without her. I wouldn’t go to a group event like ours without my husband but that’s just the way I am. I’ve always hated walking into a room by myself and when I got married, he became my security blank for stuff like that.
So, since we were down one person, I thought we could wait for her and do the lesson next week so we wouldn’t be a head of her, even though her husband said she said it was ok to go on without her. Instead, we sat around talking about resonance and sound waves and string theory and music. Yeah, we’re all like that at our home group. I’m married to a mad boy software developer who talks tech all the time. He was in his element last night. Thank you, Lord because he doesn’t get to talk tech much with me around since I usually stand there with my eyes glazed over scripting book plots in my head while he is explaining how something works. V, one of the guys in home group, goes every Tuesday to a church in a small town near us and participates in a worship event, whereby he takes several of his instruments and plays them ‘over’ people. He says he can ‘feel’ notes resonating back at him from their bodies. V, said that on Tuesday night, there was a guest speaker who was talking about quantum physics and resonance. Hearing what he talked about was very interesting and kind of put a different perspective on why we should be careful about the things we say, as it says we should in the bible.
All in all, it was a fun evening. Please contact me if you would like some ideas on how you can get a home group of your own started.
My sister came home from Texas, Sunday where she and her family had been visiting my parents who are snow birding it down there on the beach. Last year, my sister had brought back, for me, a large travel mug decorated with flip flops. I loved it and used it often but she used hers more, until she broke it. When I heard that had happened, I gave her mine telling her she could use it until she went back to TX and bought me a new one. Well, she’s back and boy oh boy, do I have a fantastic new mug! Check it out!

Good advice.
Today is Tea Tuesday. As I sit here sipping my Tetley tea, I am watching videos and visiting websites of those who would prevent the silencing of Christians and who daily fight for our rights which are being eroded by the liberal left. Active Christian Media is a site I’ve been following off and on for a couple of years now. I like that it is a woman’s site and blog. Why? Woman have historically been at the axis of change. Tea and activism go together like bread and jam. There is nothing wrong with Christians standing up for their rights. Invite ladies over for a cuppa and to discuss the rights of Christians and what is happening to our rights in the country founded by Christians. If we remain silent now, we could risk being silenced forever.
Here, with permission, is the post from Active Christian Media regarding Sally Kern who is under attack for standing up against the homosexual agenda.
I was very encouraged today when I listen to Janet Parshall’s America because Janet discussed what has happened with Sally Kern for her whole three hours. It was a great program, and I know from listening to Janet’s program for a number of years now that when she is passionate about a subject, and she has the time, she will cover the same topic for all three hours of her show. She did that today, and if you’re interested you can listen online at Janet Parshall’s America or the WAVA archives.
Meanwhile, Peter LaBarbera has posted the latest press release from Sally because, as is typical, you can’t trust the reporting of the homosexual media. The following is snagged from Pete’s site.
Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern (R) issued the following statement today regarding a 30-minute meeting she had yesterday with representatives from the pro-homosexual group PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). Kern said PFLAG’s account of the meeting — which has been spread around on homosexual websites — misrepresented her statements and intent:
As a state representative who is always willing to meet with any and all of my constituents on any issue with an open and sincere dialog, it is apparent from the statement released by PFLAG that their “open dialog” was for the purpose of politicizing the conversation to their benefit.
While I did meet with PFLAG in what was a cordial and polite meeting, they have taken my statements and have spun them to make it appear that I am backing off my comments that homosexuality is a sin. As a Christian who believes in the authority of God’s Word, I will never retract my comments that homosexuality is a sin.
PFLAG has also spun my words to say that I am in favor of “sexual orientation” laws. I unequivocally do not support “sexual orientation” laws. While I do not advocate employers going on a witch hunt to fire homosexual employees who are performing their jobs in a manner just like any heterosexual employee, I do not support laws that would force employers to check their First Amendment rights to freedom of religion, speech, and association at the workplace door.
Since PFLAG has shown their lack of integrity by misinterpreting my statements from our meeting to fit their agenda — thus revealing their purpose of open dialog to be just a means of seeking to weaken my position and strengthen theirs — I see no benefit in having future meetings with them.
God’s Word does not change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His Word expresses His moral character. Therefore, my opinion also will not change.
State Rep. Sally Kern Oklahoma House of Representatives Oklahoma City, OK March 28, 2008
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And if you’re like me and you want to support Sally Kern and let her know that more people support her than hate her and wish her dead, like the homosexual activists do, then join me in supporting her by donating a $33.00 donation to Faith 2 Action so that F2A can help buy ad space defending her in the paper.
In case you’re wondering the $33.00 figure was given by Janet Folger simply to distinguish between other totals when ordering her products. And incidentally, while you’re there, buy a copy of The Criminalization of Christianity. You’ll love it.
My husband and I bought a six pack of canned air the other day, you know, the stuff you spray on your key board to clean it? Well, 3M added a bittering agent to the recipe to ‘discourage inhalant abuse’ that’s not all they’ve discouraged. We are taking back the cans to where we purchased them and will be getting our money back. The bitter smell and taste do not only affect those who try to abuse the product, but also those of us who are using the product is intended. This is called, ‘Nanny State’, and means that corporations are governing people, and how they use their products in order to prevent law suits. I do not need a nanny. I do not need to be punished (and using this product feels like punishment) for the actions of those who never learned to, ‘just say, no’. Using 3M’s new canned air formula leaves a nasty taste in your mouth and lingers in the air long after you are done spraying. Can you imagine a large office of people spraying this product? 3M, I do not need you to Nanny me! Stop punishing your customers for the actions of others!
