I’m Not Buying it

Their excuse, not the bed, although, I’m not buying that either.

A girl’s bed is being marketed as the ‘Lolita’. Yes, THE Lolita.

Supposedly (and I don’t believe them) the people who manufactured and marketed the bed, had never heard of Lolita, ever. Never heard of the book. Never over heard anyone, eve,r talking about the movie, or saw a commercial for it when it came out in 1998 starring Jeremy Irons and, um, isn’t he a famous British actor? Yes, yes he is. Isn’t this bed being sold in the UK where he is from and no one, from the concept person to the marketing person tot he one who saw the bed set in the catalog and bought it for the store, to the store manager EVER heard of the movie Lolita? Yea, right. I’m not buying the lie people. Neither should you.

Here is the link to the story. I’m telling you, our children are being targeted. Slutty clothing, Brazilian waxes, and now a line of salacious bed room furniture? How dare these people think they can hide behind a cloak of feigned ignorance? No. Just taking the product out of stores is not enough of a penalty for them. I think they should be punished in some way. Fined perhaps.

So, parents of young girls, weigh in on this issue. Do you feel your girls are targets of much too grown up advertising and products? What do you do to try and protect them from too much exposure and from growing up too fast? Have some of you given up?
