I really don’t hate Montague’s. Really. I actually enjoy it quite a bit. However, they have changed from using lovely antique teapots to these ugly things.

So now, you get your own, individual teapot that gives you 2 1/2 cups of tea. Montague’s doesn’t decant their tea and, they don’t tell you how long it’s been in the pot by the time it gets to your table. You just kind of have to guess at the steeping time and hope your tea isn’t too weak or too strong which is why I uncharacteristically put milk in mine that day. The food is ok, the tea is ok, the desserts are fabulous and done by the same place, Little London, that made the cake for my wedding (Mom, Sis and I shared a piece of coconut cake, then Mom decided she needed a whole cake for her up coming birthday party last Saturday) the seats all need to be reupholstered, so what is it about Montague’s that keeps us all coming back? Perhaps we are just desperate for a tea place where we can relax and feel like we are in the kitchen and dining room of a friend and that’s what Montague’s feels like to me.
